Matter of Trust to save the day
For around 2 years now, we at Tribeca ColorSalon have been saving hair clippings from haircuts and sending them off to Matter of Trust.org. This is a nonprofit based out of California that creates mats and booms out of human hair and fur to soak up oil spills. Their first big success was in San Francisco a few years back. We have sent probably over 200 pounds over the last 2 years, and when they stopped taking donations for a period of time, we saved up probably over 120 pounds before the call came out for the gulf spill.
There has been some great actions taken by local salons and we’re proud to help out. We are currently exploring volunteer efforts and will keep you posted on our efforts.
